Maharashtra to adopt New JEE in 2014-15


Maharashtra State Government is in favor of new Joint Entrance Exam ( JEE ) proposed by the HRDminister for engineering admissions.It will accept the new JEE format from2014-15 instead of 2013.
The decision to adopt the new JEE entrance exam format from 2014  is to benefit the students . The Maharashtra Government wants to ensure that the students get enough time to prepare themselves for it.Bringing into effect, the new IIT JEE entrance exam pattern from the year 2013 would not give them much time to prepare who are currently in class XII.
Maharashtra Government has ensured that the market already has the revised curriculum textbooks for students to start their preparations. The Government will propose 50 : 50 relative weightage to performance in the higher secondary certificate (HSC,Std XII) board exam and in the national JEE in admission to unaided engineering colleges in the state .But the Government has not taken a formal decision on it.The ministry prefers a 60:40 weightage ratio for the JEE and Board exam scores, but has left it to the State Government to take a call on the matter for admissions for unaided engineering colleges.
For the year 2013-2014, the exam pattern will remain the same.The Maharashtra Government will conduct MH-CET as the entrance examination. Higher Education Minister, Rajesh Tope , said that the department will look into redesigning and reforming the Class XII state board syllabus to cover topics that will appear in
